John Glenn
God Speed John Glenn. I was very young when John Glenn was the first American launched into earth orbit in 1962. Of course Yuri Gagarin was first the year before. It was the beginning of the space era which culminated in the moon landing and has gone on to open up the incomprehensibly vast cosmos. I did this fairly rough digital painting of Glenn to commemorate his passing.

Jimi
Jimi. I started this caricature last week knowing that early this week was Hendrix's 74th birthday had he lived. I was never a blues guy, but I was encouraged by others to explore the roots that gave rise to the rock guitar I loved as a young guy and the music and influences that created players like Hendrix. Despite all that has come since, James Marshall Hendrix still holds my interest.

Trump the Joker
Trump The Joker. So the unthinkable actually happened. Since the US election, Trump has been making conciliatory noises that suggest his election campaign was a bit of a stunt, and all that nasty rhetoric, well he really didn't mean it. More locker room talk. So I guess the whole country must get behind him and hope it works. Having a career in the marketing business didn't give me any insight to detect this strategy, if in fact it was.

The Statue of Hillary

The Donald
The Donald. Well where to begin with this Republican Presidential Nominee. We have watched him for decades and yet he never deviates, he is what we expected. So why should we be surprised with the shite that comes out of his mouth. I'll tell you why, because the republicans chose him as their man! Out of all of America, this is their guy! Aaaand he is running neck and neck with Hillary in the polls! Trump could very well brexit into the White House. During the debates he at least had a chance to demonstrate some depth and breadth of thought, but he didn't. This is a week the world may live to regret. I give him one tomato.

Count Vlad
I have always found Putin an ambiguous character. Sometimes I like him, other times I worry just what he is capable of. Sometimes he plays his cards close to his chest, other times he expresses his exasperation passionately, particularly with the west. However I don't doubt his considerable ambition for his country and himself.

Sam Dastyari
Sam Dastyari. A caricature of Sam that I really wanted to attempt, mainly because from the first time I saw him on Q&A, I thought, gee he looks like Mr Bean. And then sometimes he sounded like Mr Bean, and some of his mannerisms reminded me of Mr Bean. Then the Chinese payment scandal demonstrated that he could be as incompetent as Mr Bean. Now he is on the back bench and I sort of feel sorry for him because despite it all, I sort of like the guy. He ruined his 15 minutes of fame spectacularly over $1,600...from the Chinese no less. What was he thinking?
So I tried to make this caricature obviously Sam, but borrowed some traits from Rowan Atkinson's character, but not too much. There is enough similarity as it is.
