Dabel
Another job for designer Nicky Kulkulka and another update of an existing image. I have an interest in iconography and how we attribute meaning to images. This one is of a devil....but I don't think the devil looks anything like this. This is just how we are taught to associate images. It is uncanny how some images make people feel uncomfortable and I am still exploring the reasons why. Is it true that there is power in images and if so, where does that power come from...or do we make phycological responses with no bases in reality. It is interesting that we all can agree, by and large, what is spooky and what is not. I think that the ambiguity of meaning behind images is what makes interpreting art all the more interesting. It is the enigma of the artist's intent that gives patrons something to agonise over. If you want plain talking and truth, then perhaps art is not the place to look.
